New allergen-free pork sausages from Northern Irish Finnebrogue

Finnebrogue Artisan in Northern Ireland has followed up its successful launch of nitrite-free bacon and ham with pork sausages without E-numbers and any allergens.

The company, which is based in Downpatrick in county Down and is among the UK largest producers of pork sausages for top retailers, has just launched the new sausages under the 'Naked' brand.

Finnebrogue has produced two Naked varieties - Cumberland and Ultimate Pork. Six sausages in a 400g pack retail around £3.50.

The Northern Ireland company's new sausages are made from 85 percent prime cuts of British pork to a unique recipe that uses only natural ingredients including 2.5 percent natural flavouring, herbs and spices and 12.5 percent gluten-free crumb and water.

Denis Lynn, Finnebrogue's chairman and the driving force behind the development of the new bacon, ham and sausages without nitrites, says: "We've never used nitrites in our sausages and these are being produced without any e-numbers or allergens whatsoever.

"Our focus is on developing natural and tasty products without any additives," he adds.

The company, among the UK's most innovative food processors, is an award- winning supplier of sausages to major retailers including Marks and Spencer, Waitrose, Asda and Tesco.

Founded in 1985 by Mr Lynn, the company remains a family-owned business which initially began processing venison reared on its own estate.

The business has since diversified into other meats and has become a market leader in sausages. In addition, Finnebrogue has developed flexitarian products for top retailers. It operates from a state-of-the-art processing plant.
